Wall Kitchen Units Wall Kitchen Units Tall

Wall Kitchen Units are available in generally two different heights. Picking the right size will be dictated mainly by the size of your ceilings. You must also take into consideration that in general you will want to keep a gap of around 450mm between your worktops and the starting height of the Unit. Also consider the highest practical shelf height is around 1060mm above the worktop.

This site was created to illustrate the size and shape of the units that are used most often and are readily available in most stores and give some fitting tips.

The standard depth of a wall kitchen unit is 300m, this includes the unit door. This often causes a problem because your standard plate wont fit into it. How many times have you been to a friends house and noticed door slightly open because the plates don't fit in. This is why people generally keep there plates in base unit. Some manufacturers however have a solution and have started creating wall kitchen units that are 40mm deeper and this gets over the problem.

Wall Kitchen Units are available in the following widths

With a single door, 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm
With two doors 600mm, 800mm, 900mm, 1000mm.

Picking the right wall unit depends on a number of things, First off if you have base units already installed you will need to make sure they line up with the units beneath. This will restrict you on the size and position of you wall kitchen unit and you haven't got much choice. However if you are free from these limitations I would recommend going as large as you can with the single door units and if you are going with two doors I would recommend an 800mm unit as over time wall units can start to bow in the middle.
